One of the eligibility criteria for the Specialty Qualifying Examination are the Resident and Program Director Attestations.

At the end of training each resident will be expected to attest to the following:

1.   Compliance with the ABOG Professionalism, Professional Standing, and Professional Conduct Policy.

2.   Met the educational objectives of their training program.

3.   Have demonstrated the knowledge, skills, and behaviors necessary to enter autonomous practice.

4.   Have met the ABOG requirements in Family Planning.

The Program Director attests, on behalf of the training program, to the residents’ satisfactory performance, professionalism, competence, and successful completion of the required months of clinical experience.

Attestations will be available to residents starting May 1st and will be due no later than June 30th. Individual resident attestations for Program Directors to submit will be available on their ABOG personal portal (Administrative Tasks Tab) 31 days prior to training end date. Results of the examination will not be released until all resident and Program Director attestations are complete.

A new attestation is not necessary for those candidates who have previously completed their residency training, and an attestation has been previously received at ABOG.

The attestation statement will be a task on the resident and current Program Director’s personal ABOG portal which can be found by logging in to your portal, clicking on the Administrative Tasks tab, and selecting the attestation task. The attestation task will be available to residents on May 1 and Program Directors starting 31 days prior to training end date. All are due no later than June 30.

Attestations must be completed by both the resident and Program Director for the resident to receive their Specialty Qualifying Examination results which are released in October of the year of the exam.

If there is a resident in your program who has either transferred or withdrawn, within the Add/Maintain Residents task, update their training end dates and status. Once this information has been updated, the Program Director will complete a training attestation in their personal ABOG portal under the Administrative Tasks tab.

Residents graduating after May 31, 2020 are required to fulfill the Surgical Skills Program standard by completing the Fundamentals of Laparoscopic Surgery (FLS) or Essentials in Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery (EMIGS) programs.

Registration starts after the new academic year. If a fellow completes their fellowship training without being registered with ABOG, they will not meet the eligibility requirements to sit for the Subspecialty Qualifying and Certifying Exams. Only register fellows who are eligible to be certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology by ABOG after the completion of the OB GYN residency. Any other fellows are considered non-candidate fellows and must not be registered.

  • Enter the incoming fellow's ABOG ID. (Residency Program Managers enter new residents into the ABOG system at the beginning of their residency, so the residents will have an ABOG ID). If you do not have the new, incoming fellow's ABOG ID, you can search by their name and date of birth or request the ABOG ID number from the fellow. If you experience issues finding an incoming fellow in our system, please contact fellowship@abog.org.
  • Enter the expected start date.
  • If the resident will be a Combined Specialty/Genetics trainee, answer "yes"; otherwise, leave "no".
  • Enter the expected end date.
  • Click "Confirm Add."
  • Please wait 15 minutes for this person to appear on your fellow list.

Trainees in a combined program must be registered prior to the first year of training regardless of whether they start in the Genetics Residency of the Subspecialty Fellowship. Also, these trainees are required to be registered with ABMGG by completing a Trainee Information Form.
