Director Responsibilities and Term

Directors commit approximately four weeks per year, including participation in Annual and Interim Board meetings, and administration of in-person Certifying Examinations. Directors will also be expected to serve on ABOG Committees including the Qualifying or in‑person Certifying Examinations, and service on one or two board committees. Some board committee meetings may occur virtually or in hybrid formats. Directors will also be expected to serve on either the ABOG Certifying Examination Development Committee (CEDC) or the Qualifying Examination Development Committee (QEDC), which meets in person to review exam performance and develop exam items. All travel, lodging, and meals are covered by ABOG, and each director receives an honorarium.

Each at‑large director serves a single six‑year term, from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2032, ending earlier only if certification is not maintained in good standing, if performance problems arise or if the director becomes employed by a specialty or professional organization that would pose a conflict of interest. If the individual has previously served a 3-year term as a Subspecialty Division Chair (which includes simultaneous board service), if elected, the individual’s term would be permuted to a 3-year term per our current bylaws.

Please submit your application here.  The deadline for submissions is March 27, 2026. The ABOG Nominations Committee will review all nominees for final selection during the June 8–12, 2026 Annual Board of Directors meeting.
